All About Amazing Rug Pads

With the addition of a rug pad, that friction and wear and tear is slowed down, thus extending the life of your rug. Obviously this is like rug pads. Although the rug is what you see on the surface, there is much more that goes into the actual installation process. This may seem like a silly question, but if you have just spent a load of money on a very expensive hand-knotted Oriental Rug, the last thing you want to do is drop a few hundred more on a rug pad that no-one will ever see.

The rug pad adds another layer of cushioning to make your walk across the rug even more comforting. If you have a closed cell pad, the dirt is held and cushioned – it’s not constantly ground against the hard floor. But has little, or nothing, to do with carpet rug pads usually. There are three reasons that using a quality rug pad is important.

By placing a rug pad over the carpet and an area rug on top of that, you will be able to keep your wall-to-wall carpet in great shape and keep it clean. What about safety? Have you ever walked on a rug – especially on a runner – and have it slip underneath you? Have you ever tripped on a curled up edge of a rug walking into a room? In these days of ready law-suits, the last thing you want is a hazard waiting to happen – most importantly to keep you and your family safe, but also to prevent unfortunate accidents for guests. This is similar to felt rug pads frequently. In addition to the durability that a rug pad will add, you should also consider that it will make the job look better as well.

Rug pads are engineered to be odor, mold and mildew proof. Depending on what kind of dye was used in the making of your oriental rug, if you spill something on it, dye may be transferred to your floor. This may only be a thin layer of protection, but you will definitely be able to notice the difference when you are walking in your bare or sock feet.

Rug pads reduce the number of falls and slips. You don’t want the rug pad to show, so it should be cut to be at least 1/2″ smaller all the way around. The pad that you use under your rug is very important. The benefits of rug pads far exceed the inexpensive price of acquiring them as they are very affordable.
